From the Louisiana Channel:
“Meet the award winning French architect Jean Nouvel, in this interview about his relationship to the Arab world. The architect is supposed to listen, Nouvel states, instead of imposing his own values and sensitivities on another place.”
In this short documentary, Nouvel presents the idea of understanding landscape surroundings and cultural heritage as a means of architectural design. A building in the East may not work in the West. In this aspect, design becomes a balance in artistic expression with understanding cultural philosophy, ideology, and heritage as well the natural factors” -i.e sun, coast, mountains, in the particular spacial area.
